45 Ideas for Fall 🍁 Sewing + Sampler Quilt Finish

Fall 🍁 Sewing Projects + My Easiest Sewing Room Storage Hack

Greetings friends!

It happened this week. I was sitting outside and I felt it.

That hint of Fall in the air. And I got a little bit giddy. Fall is my most favorite time of year.

So with the impending arrival of Autumn, I've updated my list of favorite Fall-inspired Quilts and proejcts. Now is the perfect time to start (or maybe finish?) a fall project to enjoy during the upcoming season.

Lots of ideas on this list - both big and small - to get your creative juices flowing.

Finished 2025 Riley Blake Designs Sampler Quilt

This week I finally finished my sampler quilt from the 2025 Riley Blake Quilt Block Challenge that started last January. This is a free quilt block sampler + pattern. Maybe you remember me sharing the blocks I made a long the way?

I went a little bit rogue, piecing the 16 blocks into my own layout. But I did it for a reason. Click below to see the finished quilt and read more about why I finished it the way that I did.

One of my best and simplest storage tips ever

A few years ago I stumbled upon a really simple solution for organizing my sewing room.

Six years later, this solution is still working flawlessly. And it's SO easy even a really non-handy person like me can do it in minutes.

Fun Finds on the Web:

I love this example of using a "cheater print" to make a fun quilted tote bag!

How cute are these Fabric Alphabet Letters? Wouldn't they be great for a little friend who is learning to spell? Check out the free tutorial from Leslie at Seasoned Homemaker.

In need of new scissors, or rotary cutter? Or just replacement blades? Today (Saturday) is the last day to take advantage of the extra 15% off Missouri Star's new cutting tools. (Discount taken automatically in the cart at checkout.)

Upcoming Events

I'm teaching at Garden of Quilts on September 12 at Thanksgiving Point as well as giving a truck show Friday morning at 9:30 in the Gardens (free with the price of admission) and participating in the Meet the Maker event that evening! (I'll also be at the Shop owner event on Thursday.) There are still a handful of spots in my class if you are interested.

For those who can't be in Utah in September, I'm also giving a lecture in the online Quilted Summit September 16-17! This summit was a huge hit last winter. The online event is free but you do need to register to get access to the broadcasts. (There is a paid upgrade option which gives some valuable perks (about $1200 worth), and long-term access to all the presentations.)

My flowers are starting to fade a little but my tomatoes and zucchinis are coming on strong. In fact, I'm having my best zucchini year ever. By some miracle (knock on wood) the pesky squash bugs that have been my arch nemesis in years past have left my plants alone.

It's the simple joys, right? πŸ˜‰

That said, my snails are as bad as ever. You can't win them all.

My most favorite time of the year is just around the corner and I'm going to soak it in!

Before that, we're having some family time with our kids and extended family and I'm so excited to get to spend time with them.

As always, thanks for checking in. May your temperatures be cooling and any arch nemeses keep their distance.

Have a great week. xo
