15 Favorite Free Baby Quilt Tutorials + Summer Sewing Projects and Ideas

Greetings Friends! I hope this week's edition finds you happy and well.

Consistently, the most popular posts on my site are free baby quilt tutorials. Which doesn't surprise me in the least! Baby quilts are so much fun to make, not to mention much faster to finish than larger quilting projects. They also make great beginning-quilting projects.

I've put together a list of my Top 15 Favorite Baby Quilt Tutorials - and listed them in order from beginner-level to intermediate skill-builders.

All of these quilts are super fun and easy to make - whether you're helping a brand new quilter wanting to make their first quilt or you're an experienced quilter looking for ideas for the perfect baby gift or stash buster, this list will have something for you!

Tips For Curating Your Scraps for a Cohesive Quilt

Have you ever found yourself admiring a beautiful scrappy quilt that looks like the maker had all the right scraps to make it work, and then wondered how you could possibly pull that off with your own scrap basket? You’re not alone!

Guest contributor Monika of Penny Spool Quilts shares simple, practical tips for curating your fabric scraps with confidence—so your next scrappy quilt looks cohesive, not chaotic.

My favorite pins are Magic Flat Head pins. I LOVE them. So much easier to see and grasp. And they're extra fine and sharp. If/when you need to replace your pins, I'd totally recommend them.

Summer, summer, summer. How's it treating you? I feel like it's flying by and I have mixed feelings about that.

One of my goals this summer has been to get back to hiking regularly. I'm trying to get conditioned for a more strenuous hike on a bucket-list trip later this summer.

I think that having something to work toward in a new place that I'm excited about has been the best motivation. And I feel grateful that my body is cooperating. It also definitely helps that this summer hasn't been nearly as stressful as last summer.

More time outside means less time sewing. But that's what summer is meant for and I don't want to waste the beautiful weather.

Fortunately my sewing machine does a good job of waiting patiently. :)

As always, thanks for stopping by. Have a great week!

xo,

Amy
